Networked Media Open Specifications Hands-on Workshop

Networked Media Open Specifications Hands-on Workshop

Overview

Unlock the full potential of IP-based media workflows at the NMOS hands-on workshop, organized by EBU Academy together with EBU Technology & Innovation and AMWA. This immersive, full-day session is tailored for system integrators and engineers eager to gain practical experience with NMOS (Networked Media Open Specifications).

If you are looking to deepen your understanding of NMOS, this workshop is for you ! You will gain invaluable insights into achieving seamless interoperability across media systems

The course is delivered in person: Don't miss this opportunity to enhance your skills and network with peers in the industry.

Who is it for?

  • Technical champions within broadcasting and system integration sectors.
  • Engineers from end-user organizations and manufacturing companies.
  • Professionals seeking practical, hands-on experience with NMOS implementations and exchange thoughts with peers.
  • Professionals who are already familiar with NMOS and/or have participated in one of the EBU online training sessions https://academy.ebu.ch/introduction-to-networked-media-open-specifications

Course Objectives

  • Hands-On Learning: Build and operate a functional NMOS environment. Work with AMWA NMOS IS-04 (Discovery & Registration) and AMWA NMOS IS-05 (Connection Management) to understand how dynamic device discovery and connection orchestration enable near plug-and-play behavior in ST 2110 infrastructures.
  • Tool Proficiency: Learn to use essential tools like Wireshark and Postman for analyzing NMOS network commands. Trace API interactions and diagnose respective issues in real networks.
  • Ressource guiding: Get a structured overview of the NMOS ecosystem: reference implementations, open-source code, test suites, and documentation.
  • Expert Guidance: Receive instruction from industry veterans Pedro Ferreira and Stefan Ledergerber, who bring decades of experience in media over IP technologies.
  • Comprehensive Coverage: Explore topics around more automatic system setup, ranging from automatic device configuration using DHCP and DNS to advanced NMOS specifications beyond IS-04/05, including “Minimum Status Reporting” (BCP-008) .
  • Resource Access: Gain exclusive materials for further learning, including insights into ongoing developments and emerging standards like IPMX.
