Overview
In partnership with ‘For the Record’ – a series of free conflict reporting courses from EBU Academy, Eurovision News, Thomson Foundation and UNESCO.
Go on the frontline to learn about the realities of covering conflict across the world.
In this new series of free events, Giles Gibson, the Host of the Eurovision News Podcast, deep dives into the topic by interviewing leading foreign correspondent working at EBU Members. By attending live on Tuesday May 12th, you will also get a chance to ask questions.
In the first installment, Giles is joined by Guadalupe Megías, part of the International section of the news service of Spanish Public Service Media, RTVE. As a special correspondent, she has covered conflicts in Ukraine, Israel/Palestine, and Lebanon. She has also covered events such as the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II, the shipwreck of more than 700 migrants off the Greek coast in 2023, and the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa in Jamaica.
Topics under discussion include dealing with the unexpected, the responsibility of bearing witness and documenting what you see, the importance of not making judgements and the role of colleagues back home.
Guadalupe is one of the experts contributing to ‘For the Record’, our free conflict reporting courses that cover the issues above and many more:
Focused on Ukraine in Ukrainian
Focused on global affairs in English
Focused on global affairs in Arabic
Each self-paced course is free to all, both EBU Members and Non-Members, and a certificate is issued on completion.
If you cannot join our live discussion with Guadalupe Megías, it will be available to watch later on-demand on the EBU Academy Video page and you will be able to listen on the Eurovision News Podcast.
