In this U.S. election year, EBU Academy is offering the American-based correspondents of EBU members an opportunity to learn how to better protect themselves in civil unrest situations. Mal Geer

Managing Director

Mal is Managing Director of UK based security and training company, Prime.While he is extremely focussed on developing the business Mal’s real passion is to pass on knowledge to others through training.His successful army career of 22 years included time with UK Special Forces, completion of the French Commando selection and global experience of specialist training and operations.Mal then moved into training management for telecommunications company Newbridge Networks Ltd, latterly Alcatel, with a global responsibility for specialist technical training.

After a move to working with the broadcast media industry in 2000, he then created Prime in 2003.

Russell Mason

Training consultant

Russell assists with situational awareness training and security consultancy, working with UK based security and training company Prime, at both a domestic and international level. He completed 20 years in Her Majesty’s Armed Forces including extensive service working with the UK’s Airborne and Special Forces.

Thereafter Russell forged a second career as a security and training consultant, living and working in south, central and north America, Africa, Europe and the Middle East.
