Overview
This certified Master Class has been designed to support EBU Members in their transition to a full Live IP production environment. The course gives a high-level strategic and technology overview on the issue. It also provides an excellent opportunity for EBU Members to bring together IT and broadcast specialists around a common understanding of the key developments and challenges and benchmark their own state of play. The content of the course undergoes constant review to ensure that participants are brought up to date with the latest standards, implementations and market trends. It includes online demonstrations on Media Networks Lab, IP & multicast lab and PTP Lab. Complimentary to the in-person course, participants are granted access to the EBU Academy Learning platform for additional course material and quizzes.

Meet your faculty
Pedro Ferreira
Founder and ownerPedro is the founder and owner of BISECT, a company that provides software engineering services, specializing in Media over IP, Cloud, GPU and Edge computing. Throughout his career, Pedro developed a large range of software applications and both open-source and proprietary libraries, has collaborated on multiple research projects and has always been actively involved in standardization, namely with SMPTE and AMWA. Pedro is a SMPTE Fellow and a member of the AMWA Architecture Review Group. He is also a member of the Eurovision Academy faculty, where he has trained hundreds of people in subjects like MXF, file-based workflows and Live IP. Pedro was born in 1973, in Guimarães, Portugal, and has an MSc in Telecommunications and Computers from the University of Porto.
Willem Vermost
Senior Media Technology ArchitectWillem Vermost occupies the role of Senior Media Technology Architect at the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). Holding master’s degrees in both electronic engineering and applied computer science, he brings over twenty-five years of experience in the broadcasting industry to his work. Throughout his career, he has made contributions to a broad spectrum of projects. Notable among these are the award-winning VRT Live IP proof-of-concept initiatives, the Joint Task Force on Networked Media (JT-NM) Tested Programme, and the development and launch of the open-source EBU Live IP Software Toolkit (LIST). Willem is an active member of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) and was honoured with a SMPTE Fellowship in 2020. As a member of the EBU Academy faculty, he provides training on the transition to live IP-based media facilities. He also serves on the board of directors of AWMA. At present, Willem is engaged in the EBU’s work on the Dynamic Media Facility and the establishment of the Media eXchange Layer.
